Rose Pest Solutions and their partners at Northwestern University Athletics and Bernie’s Book Bank have joined forces for the 5th consecutive year to increase literacy and book ownership in our communities! Books for Buckets is happening now through November 30th! And we are inviting YOU to participate!
Giving Back and Doing Good
Books for Buckets is a children’s book donation program to encourage literacy and book ownership throughout our communities. It takes place during giving season each year. During Northwestern’s Men’s basketball season, we donate a set of books through Bernie’s for every three-pointer made during home games. And in the spring, Books for Buckets turns into a reading contest where kids can win prizes from local businesses for reading different amounts of books. To date, Rose has donated 28,608 books to underserved children throughout Chicagoland through Bernie’s Book Bank with this multi-faceted program.
There’s nothing like feeling the pages of a physical book. In a world full of bright screens on devices, it is more important than ever before to encourage children to read physical books. Studies have shown significant adulthood success due to book ownership and reading at young ages. We believe in empowering children to read their way to a better life.
How To Participate
We need your help to make the biggest impact possible in our communities! Help by donating gently used children’s books! We ask that the books are in good condition (i.e. proper binding, no holes or ripped pages), and are age-appropriate for children birth-6th grade. Bernie’s Book Bank asks: Please, no books pertaining to holidays and religion and no textbooks.
For every 8 children’s books donated, you’ll get a free Northwestern men’s basketball ticket!
